Sam Levinson is honoring Angus Cloud in the wake of the actor's death.
Cloud died at age 25 on July 31, prompting an outpouring of tributes from his Euphoria family. Among those mourning the loss include Sam Levinson, who created the HBO series that sky-rocketed Cloud to stardom.
"There was no one quite like Angus," Levinson said in a statement to Deadline following Cloud's passing. "He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched."
The 38-year-old added, "I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family."
His cause of death hasn't been shared.
Cloud was cast in Euphoria after being scouted on the street in Brooklyn. He appeared in two seasons of the drama—which also stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow and Jacob Elordi—as the kindhearted drug dealer Fezco.
His character "was supposed to die in season one," Cloud told GQ last year, but "it never ended up happening."
"I think that they liked what I did and so they decided to keep me alive and let me rock," he said. "I don't know how I was going out, but hopefully I would've gone out like a G."
Fezco, again, was spared from being killed off in the season two finale when Levinson changed the script at the last minute, according to costar Javon Walton, who played Cloud's onscreen adoptive brother Ashtray. Instead, viewers saw Fezco get arrested by the police following a gunfight in which Ashtray was fatally shot.
"He was the one that was down [to] die," Walton told E! News in February 2022. "He was the one that was down to take the shot. So, he was really sad when he knew that I was gonna die."
Amid news of Cloud's passing, Walton mourned his castmate and shared a photo of the pair on Instagram. "Rest easy brother," the 17-year-old wrote, adding on his Instagram Story, "Forever family."
